Coach Shane has a richly informed, passionate and friendly approach to developing young players that combine to make his coaching distinctive. He makes things fun and interesting for his players, but not at the expense of putting in the hard work in the Singapore heat necessary to progress. And Shane’s approach extends to his coaching team, many of whom both Aaron and my younger son, Sean have trained with.
Shane has taken my son Aaron and transformed both his game and mental approach, making him a far more robust player, finessing technique, educating him on intelligent proven match play and fortifying a young man’s often fragile mind into more of the calm, thinking approach today’s game requires.
There is a spring in Aaron’s step before one to one and group sessions and the hard work is paying off. Two years on Aaron is showing the high level of tennis he is capable of on a consistent basis and taking this into his matches, and is about to embark on the next stage in his development playing ATF matches through 2017, under Shane’s guidance. And he has taught me a few tricks along the way as well – although not yet enough to allow me to come out on top when Aaron and I square up!
